KINDERDEUTSCH PROJEKTS'
FOREIGN C.
July 23--26
“… surprises with an unsettling urgency, an inspired tension, and an elegance of conception and realization… The great achievement of their dance-fight-sex choreography is that there are no cheap provocations and no links to overdone avant-garde games.”
-Hildesheimer Allgemeine Zeitung
“… one of the year’s most mesmerizing hours.”
-The Austin Chronicle
Kinderdeutsch Projekts is a German/American physical theater company that collaboratively generates plays and performance installations. Their boundary-bending works blend movement, text, and sound design to investigate the most terrifying aspects of 20th century history with dark humor and absurdity. They have performed at Intransitos Gallery (Berlin, Germany), The Theater Without Stages Festival (St. Petersburg, Russia), the Patravadi Theatre (Bangkok, Thailand), Theaterhaus Hildesheim (Hildesheim, Germany), Refraction Arts Project’s Fusebox Festival (Austin, USA), and the David Mark Cohen New Works Festival (Austin, USA).
FOREIGN C. follows a reporter who watches the 20th century pass by from hotel bars and the scaffolding of unremembered buildings – never aging, hardly feeling, always humming a sweet little song. The Foreign C. records monstrosity, traversing metropolis, time and gender, observing the worlds of Nazi doctors, Coney Island babies, and forgotten ghosts, and abandoning all of them to the ever-growing pile of history left behind.
