RED HANDLE'S
YELLOW ELECTRAS
July 10--19

Red handle creates and presents live performances that crash through boundaries of media, genre, storytelling, and audience. Its premiere production, iph.then, was created as a part of the Ontological Hysteric Incubator’s Short Form program, and was selected as a part of the Summer Series, completing a successful run in August 2007. The company aims to expose the processes of creation and performance for its audiences in order to examine their myths, stories, and methods of telling them.
Red handle’s newest remaking creates a new template for an old myth, mixing video, movement, opera, and theatre in a playful series of episodes, interruptions, and entertainments. Following the success of their iph.then at the Ontological last summer, this new piece is a mash-up of the Electra myth and Kandinsky’s Yellow Sound, and includes several Electras, a chorus, opera, dance, and sounds from Strauss, Kandinsky, and Grizzly Bear.
