TINY THEATER!

a tiny performance festival
Co-Presented this year by the Ontological-Hysteric Incubator and The Brick Theater

Curators: Michael Gardner of The Brick, Shannon Sindelar and Brendan Regimbal of the Ontological

TINY THEATER = theater/dance/dance-theater/puppet-theater/object-theater/installation
that takes place in 6' x 6' x 6' or smaller and in under 10 mins.

Each year the Incubator hosts a TINY THEATER! festival, a four-night multi-arts event designed to promote interest in new forms of spatially challenged performance. The festival will feature short works by established and emerging artists.

This year we are looking for projects that embrace the idea of "tiny theater" and find new ways to experiment with the form. The festival takes place the weeks of May 11--24.

Complete application guidelines are included in the application form. Applications are due Tuesday, March 25.

Ontological veterans Temporary Distortion approach the subject of cross-country travel through the tensely static stage compositions that have become the signature of their work. (bullet hole road) is Temporary Distortion's unique spin on the American Road Movie.

Returning Tiny Theater artists the NY Neo Futurists conduct pseudo science in a small space under experimental conditions; the result is Tiny Isolation Experiment.

Cherry Red Productions vows to mount the hippest, happenenest, East Village-est parody ever to grace a tiny downtown stage with Li'l Care Bear Crash, their 10-minute knock-off of the 2005 Oscar-winner for Best Picture.

Steven Gridley collages family dinners over the course of a difficult month.   Gridley and co-director Jacob Titus spin puns and similar sounding words until language begins to change meaning in Theme and Variations.

A forest plastered with pornographic pictures found in a father's dresser drawer constitutes the setting for Annie Baker and Emily Charlotte Conbere's Porn Forest .   War-tired grandmothers serenade the audience.

A wife's sight is destroyed by her operatic husband, and she renders him mute in return in A Week of Kindness .   Corina Copp and Kelly Kivland fracture dialogue and challenge the limitations of movement in this dance-theater work.
